Frequently Asked Questions

I suggest wearing comfortable pants, top and shoes. It’s important that the clothes are not too tight or warm; you’ll want to be able to move your body easily and avoid getting hot. 

This depends on which class you’ll be attending. Comfortable and breathable exercise clothing are always  recommended.
Fitness shoes are required for the Toning and Interval Training classes, and can be worn for Stretching & Relaxation classes.
Shoes are not usually worn in Yoga classes.

Dress in comfortable clothing and shoes so that you’ll be ready to move around. You’ll need a sturdy chair that will stay in place and enough space to extend your arms out to the side. Water is always beneficial.
I suggest not eating a big meal prior to any physical activity

Research has determined that sitting for extended periods of time has many health risks. Too much sitting has a detrimental affect on posture, muscles and joint movement and affects blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, body composition and mental health.

Each Staying Active In the Workplace workshop provides you with three modules that, in total, should take about 15 minutes. This would be a great goal but you could start with less time and gradually add more. These are gentle, functional movements that you can do every day.

These are gentle, functional movements that should be done slowly and carefully. It is important to listen to your body and to do what feels comfortable.You may want to consult your health care provider if you have specific health concerns.

Prior to attending the Staying Active In The Workplace workshop or the Fitness Classes, I will be asking you to complete The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire. It will inform you if you should speak to your doctor or other health care provider before becoming physically active.

If you’re in the workplace, your symptoms should be mild enough to work and participate in these activities. If you’re congested, have a stomach ache or body soreness, it’s always best to listen to your body to ensure that you’ll be comfortable and have the energy to participate.
